So, i am currently studying from the curriculum.
plan on giving the exam next june (2017)
I will order for the prep provider’s notes and stuff on june.
I have already started going through the curriculum.
I can say with confidence that i understand quant fairly well. Maybe a revision and il be good to go.
However economics and FRA have me stuck. (So i guess il be depending on the prep providers before i come back to the curriculum)
I want to know what topics i could do from the curriculum exclusively and have a shot at understanding them well - Basically, what are the easier topics that i could do for now that dont have stuff overlapping with other topics.
I was thinking about AI or fixed income or derivatives.
Any suggestions?

There are no absolutely easy topics in Level 2, depends on your educational and professional background. Since you have so much time you had better skim through the entire curriculum and draw conclusions to yourself as to where your strengths and weaknesses are. The LOS is your map.

I was just wondering isn’t it too early to start preparing for an exam in 1 year and 3 months’ time? To be fair you do need to remember some formulas on top of understanding them, and personally I don’t think it’ll stick to my head for that long. Also you might get bored if you start too early.
If you think econ. and FRA are difficult, start with them first and end with quant, allow some time to give a second round quick run through. That’s how I plan my own studies. I’d say 6 months is really enough.

I agree with the part of getting bored but i did the same thing for level 1 spent about 8-9 months and i really tried to understand everything. Didnt rush anything and it really helped Scored >70 in everything except econ which was >50. This may not seem like a big deal but i really had to do it because i came from a non finance backgound - An audio producer to be specific.
Since level 2 is even tougher, i plan on spending more time with it and putting more time and effort to understand it. Besides, i dont spend too much time per day. I study till i start to lose focus which is about 3-4 hours - So that stops me from getting bored. But i know that once i start solving questions, this time bracket will increase dramatically.
I also plan on studying for GMAT and maybe Level 1 CAIA but im still thinking about it.

Congratulations on your results for Level 1. It’s very impressive especailly that you’re from non-finance background.
I don’t have the luxury to study 3-4 hours / day as I’m working full time, so I have to strike the balance between giving enough time to prepare and still remember everything before exam. I’ve started end of Dec and I’m pretty much on track. Having covered about 80% of the topics, I won’t say level 2 is as hard as people say (or maybe I’ve just fooled myself), especially that you’ve passed level 1 so you’re not a complete newbie. Having said that, you know yourself best. Maybe as the others said, skim through the curriculum to decide for yourself when should you start?
Good luck!

Are you related to the Benjamin Graham that wrote that well known investment book?

Haha I can only wish for that to be true. But yea, his work really inspires me to go on in this extremely deceptive world of investments.

Thanks MissSongJ
I have already started, done with quant. Im in the middle of FRA right now. I am not relying on any prep providers yet and the curriculum seems pretty overwhelming for the most part. But so far it seems doable especially since i have started to make notes of the important points . It really condenses 2 pages into a few lines and points.
