Dear All,

I am a phd student in economics near finished. I decide to go for a career in finance and investment. I had some work experience in the World Bank, dealing with large economic data sets (firm level and household level), analyzing them using statistical software and writing reports and papers. The data sets are not finance-related, though. Just wonder whether this work experience helps find a job in finance and investment. I really don't know much about the finance and investment industry although I have been trying hard to get to know it as much as I can. I also will be taking CFA level 1 exam in June 2007. Any insider thoughts and suggestions would be really appreciated! Many thanks.

Best regards.

If the work is full time, it will be recognise by CFA requirement.
and yes, stats is very useful in finance so if you elaborate on it, it should get
you something. Together with the academic, I think you will have no trouble of
finding a role in finance field.

with regards to CFA, study hard! focus on FSA and you will be fine since your economic and stats should be pretty fine. Good luck and have fun.
