Try Robert Half Management Resources. As far as I recall, there are two or three tiers of job placement services, with Accountemps being at the bottom and paying the least. But even about 12 years ago, a friend of mine applied to Accountemps and was going to get $25/hour just for Excel work, $10/hour is ridiculous. Aren’t they paying that at Mickie D’s these days? Robert Half Management Resources is the middle tier of their operation. They “hire” you then rent you out as a consultant.
I started out writing policies and procedures at $40/hour when I was rented out to a mortgage company by Robert Half in 2003 after losing my full time job. Within one month, this company decided they needed me for a different assignment, and due to the changed requirements of the new assignment, my pay was increased to $70/hour, with time and a half after 40 hours a week. And believe me, I did everything I could to work at least 55 hours/week. <- this had to be justified as otherwise the company of course tries to limit the hours it has to pay for. I also got bonuses after billing a certain number of hours and so on, and I think I got vacation pay too. This eventually led to a full time offer from this company, and I found out that Robert Half had been charging them $140/hour for me … which is why I would joke “Robert Half … b/c they take HALF of the money!” but still, it worked out for me.
Oh, if the company that is renting you from RH does not like you, be aware that there is (or at least used to be) a clause in the contract with RH that they can terminate you within 48 hours with no charge to them. That makes you an almost risk free hire, but I saw more than one person being given the boot when they were still brand new and learning where the restrooms were.
