I got this email a couple of days ago and I just paid 320 bucks.
All my work experience approved by both CFA and local society.
What am I waiting for now?
 
Now you’re waiting for your status to change from Chater Pending to Frankz888, CFA. From what I gather, it will be sometime in early September.
 
I just got the email to activate my membership, but I can’t figure out how. Can anyone give me some directions?
 
Has anyone submitted their work experience for review to CFAI lately? I did mine last week and its still under review eventhough I saw some posts saying CFAI was approving work experience in one day or so!

Yeah, mine got approved by CFAI in 3 business days (all 62 months submitted). It is the local CFA society that’s sitting on it. Not sure how long they will take to approve.
 
By the way, how are you guys paying for local society membership dues? by credit card or by personal check? I want to use check but dont know if that will take extra time for delivery, check settling, etc. on the other hand, if I use credit card, i have to write down credit card number on paper and fax it back (for NYSSA). plus I have to submit that to my employer and it will be kept on file. lots of open room to have my info stolen..
 
Are you applying to the Calgary society? How many decision days are left for you? I have applied to Toronto and I hear they usually take atleast few weeks.
 
I paid with my credit card. If you are concerned about getting your card number stolen, call your credit card number and ask them to issue you a one-time use number.

I’m at 24 days remaining. Hopefully it doesn’t take that long for them to approve. I was hoping to get in on the train that leaves on Sep 1st for the new Charterholders. It doesn’t seem like I will though.
How many days remaining for you?
 
CFAI turnaround was one day, my local society was around a week and a half.
325 bucks paid by credit card
 
Folks,
for those of you who have got your work experience approved, did you receive a mail after the CFA Institute approved or did the email come after both the Institute and local society approved?
I find myself logging in and checking all the time if the status has changed on the work experience - can’t explain why I’m so impatient given the several year process to reach this stage!

I got an email after both were approved - letting me know I could activate the membership and pay dues.
No need to explain your impatience - I’m right there with you. Won’t be long now.
 
I feel the same, keep checking to see when CFAS have approved it. Bored of waiting!
 
Why do you people want to join the Local Society? Is it just networking, or are there other benefits (free beer?)?

I think this is exactly how it works. CFAI approved me in a day or two, the local society (Dallas) has been sitting on it for a week now. I called them because im impatient and was told yesterday they would have to get back to me on “Monday” which kind of made me mad… What, you don’t work Thursday OR Friday?
 
Waiting till september for those 3 letters su*ks!!! (after having cleared 3 exams, and work ex approval process!!)
 
Been waiting about three weeks for Seattle society to approve my work experience after CFAI approved it in one day. I know its silly, but I’ve been checking the status every day. I guess I just want to know I’m officially done. Does anyone know what happens if the “days remaining” gets down to zero and the local society hasn’t reviewed the work experience yet?
