Well, I failed the June Level 1 exam (score high 50s I believe). This after using Schweser and studying about 350 hours. My weak areas were Equity, Debt, PM and Quant. Im debating about going for it in Dec if I do, should I use the same books and just knuckle down and try harder? The books dont change from June to Dec, right?

Buy the CFA online exams first.
You can stick to shweser as long as you can get more than 80% in the fist shot from working Book 6 & Book 7 in the areas where you are weak.
Pers, I have used Stalla. Peter Olinto have really a big value explaning things and giving hints. But beleive me, you have to nail down the online CFA exams + BSAS exam. If you can get more than 80% in Quant, PM, Debt, Equity it will be fine for you.
Tell yourself that you have gone far, there is only few things to fix to succeed. You are close to the goal man.

I agree with dvlpr75. Definitely use the CFA exams, and every practice exam you can find. Obviously it doesn't do you much good to keep using the same practice exams over and over.

With Level I, you can get away with not doing so well at PM IIRC, but Equity, Debt and Quant are just too big to not do well on across the board. I see that you used Schweser, did you consider purchasing the curriculum as well, or perhaps leveraging a review course in person?

The test can change from June to December if there are any changes to the LOSs, so you definitely want to look into that if you're going to use the same materials.

Don't give up! Remember that the majority of people that eventually get the CFA fail at least one exam, if not more, along the way! Keep going!!

two more things
1. You cannot afford to give up
2. would you rather live with the pain of discipline or the pain of regret?

Thanks guys........one more round.

I think the online sample are a to-do thing.

i took all five, did 3 of them about a month before the exam. Failed all of them but got immense insight about silly mistakes, time management, reasoning and of course explanations on Ethics.

took the two - I think about within 5 days to the exms - nailed both with over 90% and gained tremendous confidence.

Never read the LOS though - would just read the material and attempt the qeastions.

Believe it or not, I dont even have a PC at home (mine was junked a few months back). Well......I'm gonna go out and buy a new one specifically so I can do the online exams. I'm taking no prisoners this time.

I'll keep in touch...Thanks, all.

I think the pain of regret is easier to ignore...

but of course we all know the right answer here is discipline, right!?

Go for it and see you in L2 in Jan.
