Hey Joey, what year was that? Did they have videos around that time?? Just kidding!
Anyways so yeah I bought Allen last year for Level 1 and they send you two large books that are spiral bound and about the size of dictionaries/phone books. What I did NOT like about them is that there are no practice questions in either of those large books. So for someone like me who likes to read a bit and then quiz myself, you would need to have your laptop or computer with Internet access to even test yourself. My co-worker had Schweser and I prefer the smaller work books that test you often. The q Bank/online questions that Schweser provide IMHO are superior to the online questions with Allen.
Lastly, there are the Allen videos. The DVDs are OK. Its just a guy/gal sitting down lecturing and writing notes down. I think i got through the Quant DVD and realized i was not going to be able to learn efficiently in that manner so I ordered Schweser and loved it. Schweser is the industry standard and probably most commonly used. Although i am biased because i have never seen any other providers materials, just these two. Everyone at my work uses Schweser for a reason though.
good luck!
