Any alternative to Bloomberg terminal?

Is there any other alternative to Bloomberg terminal if one would like to setup his own shop?

what are you trading? anything where dealers are sending OTC markets via bloomberg then no, otherwise yes.

My uncle set up his own shop with a checkout counter, cash register, and some nifty window display items.

We dumped Bloomberg years ago and now use Capital IQ. Cap IQ is much better for what we do (domestic small cap value composite) plus it is much cheaper. I guess it depends what you are looking for.

how does Cap IQ serve better for domestic small cap?
Mid cap is the area of interest and fixed income (convertible bonds) occasionally.
