Any benefit to taking the exam if you know in advance you can't pass?

Tens of thousands have passed on their first try without needing to get used to the format and environment.
And even more people who didn’t!
My point is, i wouldn’t register for it for the purpose of practicing, BUT if i have already registered and it’s about the cost of time for that one day, i would go check it out and see what’s it’s like!
I’d rather go 3/3. It gives you confidence for other exams you’ll do during the rest of your life.

I mean, if you have already REGISTERED for the exam and not show up, it still count as a “fail” no?

Most L1 candidates are only starting to touch their books now…

Tough to say. That’s a loophole. If you don’t show up, not sure I would consider it a fail.

One things for sure–whining and pissing and moaning and asking people to convince you not to study won’t get you anywhere.
Stop bitching. Crack a book and start studying. Then you can pass it and be done with it, and have ten months to study for level 2.

Well you are just lying to yourself, not showing up is a fail.
So what, next year when you feel under-prepared at the end of May again and you don’t show up at the exam, and you don’t count that as a fail as well?

^ That’s way different. I’m referring to someone that paid to sit for the exam and didn’t open a book for 4 months leading up to the exam.

Its not considered a technical fail which is apparent by the pass rates CFAI releases not including people who didnt show up. However, it might be an emotional fail if you want to look at it that way.
