i mean fund manager, most of the junior pm deal with daily fund management, withdrawals etc. woudnt an analyst be more well equipped for the PM role. unless i have the desc of junior pm wrong here..

"Maybe" is probably the single most definitive answer to this question. PM's come from all areas, so there's really no magic job that guarantees you'll become a PM eventually. It really depends on the company.
