Now that I have been fortunate to pass level 1 (and now have the "fortune" to study for level 2...) I am considering joining the T.O. society as an associate member (I am an engineer and do not have direct finance work experience).

My question is what do people think of the networking opportunities in the T.O. society? As I am one of probably many looking to "break into" a related field (research analyst etc.), I need every good opportunity I can get.

The Society seems to put on some luncheon seminars, which look good. There are also some special events, like a Jays game etc. Are these useful for networking too? Any experiences would be interesting to hear. Thanks!
 
I am with TCFAS and I have participated in those luncheons. I did meet people and exchange business cards. Not yet capitalized, though.

Being said that, especially if your employers pay dues, it is worth in and even if you have to pay, in my opinion, it won't be total waste. At very least, job posting is updated almost every day and being there speed up the process when you pass L3, which I hope I do this year.
 
i sent my application for the associate position just last week, I think it is worth it, I will find out soon enough!

Anyway, it would be nice to meet some of you at one of the events.
