any opportunities?

Are people finding good career advancement opportunities at the moment or are they quite hard to come by still? Are we still in the wait-and-see mode or has the job freeze thawed somewhat?

My friend in NYC wanted to move to Chicago and applied for 1 job and interviewed 1 time and got the job last week.

He is going from I-Banking in NYC to Commercial Real Estate in Chicago.

Didn't apply for anything but I do got headhunted from time to time (unfortunately never got the interview from this method - I either overqualified or underqualified for the job they offered).

Try to stay on the radar for prospects, however, pretty much wait and see mode.

I'm hearing stuff internally that opportunities are opening up all over the street.

Healthy firms have had their vacancy stop in action for months and months now. They can't continue forever without hiring so I'm already seeing openings here and there.

Got called by headhunters three times the last month, that used to be zero at the end of last year and early this year. Quite a small sample but still, it's not that bad.

Banks won't start hiring until you see consistent earnings. Until then layoffs are still probable.
