Anybody would like to share their experience of L1 exam which can benefit Dec L1 exam candidates.

When the result of June L1 will come?

I remember Upin wooped my behind when I approached him and Rydex in Nov'05 with a similar question. I believe his exact words were "go away and study, don't interrupt the big boys." They were preparing for the December exam, and mine was not until June. They were so rude, and all I wanted was a hug...

Anyways, I am getting off track. Now that I am a hardened veteran, below is my recollection of the E-day.

* Got up and ate breakfast
* Drove to the test center and wrote the exam
* Got home, ate stake, watched some tv

Let's go lev...hug it out.

Houston your invited to stay after the hug is finished ;-)

Thanks Pin, but I don't want Lev to feel left out with him being all needy and stuff.

I've run the numbers a few times and there definitely isn't room for three....perhaps you two can have a coffee or something meaningless afterwards.

I've also ran the numbers, and seems like optimal target would involve you and Lev.

Shoot me and email if you would like to talk about the experience afterwards!~!

You had an input error.....to get to the optimal target you increase "debt"....I'm sure you just misread.

It hurts me to watch you dance like a schoolgirl, Upin. Here is how you finesse a lady. You approach her with grace and passion in your eyes and say with a mysterious tremor in your voice "the CFA charter would look good on you - would you like it in red, blue, or bright orange?" ... And she is yours.

Do you suggest I wear panties with that skirt too lev...?

It is not enough to know the material. Time during the test is precious. The wording of questions will challenge you and eat your time away.
Presuming you set enough time to learn the material, set aside at least a few weeks for real time simulated test taking.

I have not found the time to be such an issue during the test. Really.

I would say: do not neglect areas you are strong at during the preparation, they will allow you to save time. Ethics is pretty straightforward, so make sure you know it well.

Tips:

#1) This is prime... KNOW YOUR MATERIAL. I found level 1 was fair but challenging, but knowing the material well and knowing it like the back of your hand is the difference between a relaxing post exam period and an ulser.

#2) Do at least 2 full "difficult" pre-exams before the exam, make sure you can do them in at least 1.5 min. If you are doing a rediculously long Schweser question do it as quickly as possible, if you can do a long quiz with long, difficult questions in 3 hours you will be able to get through the exam with ease.

#3) Know FSA & know the ratios.

#4) Review all of ethics sometime within the last week all day, I did it the day before the exam and IMO this was the most valuable use of the time before the exam.

#5) Get a good nights sleep. I got around 7 the night before the exam and was fine, but more would have been better. Although it may be difficult, go to bed early.

#6) Start with your favorate, most confident areas (or strongest) on the actual. I did this I.e. PM, Quant, AV, Econ, CF, FSA, Ethics. The rational behind this is two fold. A) You will build confidence as you breeze through your strong areas and B) you will probibly have more time for your weak areas cus you will have finished your stronger areas quicker.

#7) Take B-Complex, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng and Omega 3 while you study, they are brain booster.
