I am heading down to Regina this Saturday to take the full 6-hour mock exam. Just got back from Edmonton this past weekend from an intense 3-day seminar...was excellent and I've got a new motivation and fire lit under my a$$.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anybody else was planning on writing this and how prepared they feel? I still have TONS of work to do (and get thru derivatives), but the course this past weekend gave me wayyy more confidence in myself. Proved to me that I know much more than I was giving myself credit for...just don't think I'm quite ready to sit for 6 hours when I haven't done many review questions.

I'll let you guys know how it goes, and likewise, I'd like to hear other peoples' commentary on it over the next few weeks (I know the Edmonton society is giving the exam next weekend).

From the sounds of it, they give you a huge answer key as soon as it's done and you go through and grade yourself. Should be good times - d'yall think I should take the Friday off from work or just go balls out, drive down there Friday night and review in the hotel? This thing has become my life...and I'm loving it right now.

Also, seeing a ton of hot new girls and partying on Whyte Ave. this past weekend didn't hurt either - actually helped me forget about my ex-biatch personal problems back here. It was JUST what the doctor ordered and I'm pumped!

Zim - and more partying at Regina this weekend???

I wish Houston scoiety were offering a Mock exam.

Good luck!

Houston - nah, I think I've sworn off any partying/drinking, etc until the night of June 3rd from here on out. This past weekend was def unexpected, but I knew what I was there for and that was paramount - the ladies came second ;)

You should check with your local society, cuz apparently the Boston society prepares a full exam every year and then sells it out to other societies around the world for them to administer in their local areas. I think we're paying something like $25 to write it under full/realistic exam conditions, so even if I bomb it, I think the experience of a dry run-thru will be invaluable, especially since time management is gonna be my biggest hurdle.

I know the Edmonton/Calgary societies are giving the exam the following Saturday, so you should def check in Houston, cuz it sounds like this is a pretty popular thing to do.

I've checked the Houston Society of Financial Analyst (HSFA). They only offer mock exams if you take thier course.

Good idea on ceasing the party scene until the test.

I got that from Calgary CFA Society, though not as great as an actual exam simulation

Dear Candidates,

The Calgary CFA Society has been offered the opportunity to provide candidates access to the Boston Security Analysts Society's mock exam. This is an exam that is written every year by the Boston Society to help prepare their candidates for the exam. Each mock exam is broken into both morning and afternoon sessions and is designed to mimic the format and style of the actual CFA exam for each level. Also provided are the answer keys so candidates can grade their own exams once written.

The price for these mock exams is $30. We will be accepting orders up until May 2, 2006. Please complete the form attached and return to the Calgary CFA Society no later than May 2, 2006 along with your payment. You may also reply via email as long as all of the information in the attached form is included. If paying by cheque please forward the form along with your cheque directly to the Calgary CFA Society.

Please note: the exams can only be distributed in hard copy form. As such, please email Gabriela Revak ([email protected]) with your name, regular mail address, and which level you would like the mock exam for.

Please be aware that the Calgary CFA Society will not be providing electronic copies of these mock exams to candidates, and any emails that are received that do not contain a regular mail address will not be responded to.

I'm in the LA society class, and we will be taking the mock exam on the 20th. Apparently it's the same exam as the Boston exam (I'm assuming we buy it from them).

Mofo - yeah, apparently the Boston society does this every year. They sell it out to other societies for them to give these dress rehearsals. I think it's a great idea and people would be stupid not to take advantage of this situation, assuming their local chapter is offering it. I'm writing it on Saturday...I'll let you guys know how it goes.
