Anyone here have opinions on whether AAPL's a good buy right now (trade time frame: several next days to several weeks)? Technically, it looks like it just broke out of a flag/pennant formation today.

The iPhone is sold out at every store except 2. Over 1 million phones have been sold

AT&T might be the place to bet... they make $1800 in revenue per iPhone sale. I have no idea about their specific iPhone margins but on the overall corporate level they look much higher than Apple's. AT&T is a lot cheaper than apple and has a fat dividend.

lol, you mean you looked at T's total annual revs and realized it was too small to move the needle?

The classic Cramer. I think (such and such) is a better play on (latest hot investment idea) even though (such and such) stands to benefit only slightly from this trend. Like when he tried to say MON was a great play on the Iowa caucus, because the politicians would pander to farmers.

lol. happens all the time.

for T/ iphone i skimmed through a sensitivity analysis that had bull case of incremental $1.7B in 2008 revs... think T is suppsoed to do something like $117B-$120B in 2007 revs. EPS impact was something like $0.05 in 2008 for the bull case.

actually, most of T's revenue is from a rapidly diminishing fixed line biz.

One thing I've noticed over the last couple of years... maybe you've noticed it, too, that is if you don't pay your fixed line monthly bill they will never turn you off... not even a warning. I let mine lapse 8 months and only paid because I moved. They're doing everything they can to keep the revenue coming even if it isn't realized. I guess they know eventually I'll pay.

interestingly Bell Canada which is mainly a fixed line business was auctioned off at a decent premium. Of course Bell has a media and satellite business

apple = you will lose an assload of money if results do not make expectations. not worth the risk.

ATT = crap

Take that to the bank
