Are CFA networking events worth it?

The cost of the events. Each event is like 20-30 bucks?
 
Also the time?
The events are held about 1.5 hrs drive away.
 
Cost and time?
Well … what would you be doing with that $20 – $30 and 4 – 5 hours if you didn’t attend? How profitable are the time and money in their next best use?
 
Situation same here in India. Free for members and chargeable for candidates @ $20.
Have not attended any session. Cannot comment on the benefits of the gatherings
