I am considering relocating to Atlanta from Dallas. Are there any large financial firms headquartered/located in Atlanta? How is the job market there in general for finance related jobs?

CFAatlanta has been unemployed for around 4-6 months. That might be a reflection of the Atlanta job market and why you should stay away.

Depends what your skill set or target market is. If you post that, I can try to give you some info.

as far as banks go, really all you have in suntrust. but on the investment management side, you have a few more options. according to the ajc book of lists, the top five money managers in town are ing investment management, trusco capital management, suntrust, montag and caldwell, and invesco. each of them have at least 20 cfas. it depends on your skill set like cfaatlanta said. you also have several valuation firms, inclusing each of the big four.

I'm interested in ATL as well. I'm currently a credit analyst at a BB bank in NYC with 2.5 years experience out of school. I have a BBA and a Masters. I've passed the CFA level III, and am waiting on the remaining few months of work experience to receive the designation. I've moved fast and am currently working at the IB associate level (2nd yr), to give you a sense of comp.

I might be relocating to Atlanta to be with family. I'm looking for something along the lines of a hedge fund, private equity, or VC. I'm looking for at least $200k in total comp. beginning in my first year. A long/short equity fund would be an option, though I'd prefer to trade in multiple asset classes. Does this seem feasible?
