Any other Band 10s here. This is a worse feeling than getting a Band 1

it is obviously but it also shouldn’t be, youre at the crux, and it will be in the bag for you by next year

sorry bro, I understand your feeling now. Get back up and you will pass next time.

band 9 here but the difference must be 1 or 2 PM questions…
very surprised that my matrix showed 70%> in ethics.. clearly some questions must have been thrown out

Band 10 as well, I know it’s a waste of money but paying for retab anyway…

Band 10 as well! First try, i wasn’t so confident but it sucks to be band 10… My AM was hard and I did better in the PM as all the candidates.
AM : 3 <=50%, 6 51%-70% and 1 > 70%
PM : 1 <= 50%, 4 51%-70% and 4 > 70%
Do you think it’s worth paying to retabulate?

Yeah I was above 70 in Ethics and failed as well. I am considering a Re-tab but I also like money and I would rather use it towards signing up for the exam next year.
I honestly felt 50/50 about the exam in terms of whether I would pass or not. I am still haunted by that first AM question. Just absolutely devastated right now

i’ve never heard of anyone having a successful retab except for the CFA bank account

I got band 10 and am quite surprised myself. Coming out of the exam I knew that I didn’t ace the AM portion, but felt like I did good enough. Turns out that I did a lot worse than expected. I’m still kind of surprised that my scoring matrix didn’t garner a pass, considering a stellar PM performance where 3 out of the 5 topics that I got below 50 on the AM were above 70 in PM.

Same here. I was sure I did bad on FI, but the rest felt quite OK. Band 10 really sucks, especially if you see some matrixes with a pass that look even worse than the one from yourself.

You don’t know when to quit, do ya Griswold?…
Here’s an idea: Why don’t you give me half the money you were gonna bet, we’ll go out back, I’ll kick you in the nuts, and we’ll call it a day!

Band 10 is the absolute worst I’m with you on that. What helped me pass the 2nd time around was answering the easy questions first in AM then coming back to question 1 because it’s usually the one that’s a bitch. You will kill it next year.

A few years ago a friend of mine was competing in the Tevis Cup: a 100-mile, 24-hour endurance ride across the Sierra Nevada. He was riding a friend’s horse, which explains his actions.
Coming out of the checkpoint at the 60-mile mark (and in first place), the horse bucked him off: he ended up with a broken rib. Had he been on his own horse, he’d have stopped there; because it was a friend’s horse, he wanted to give it the opportunity to finish the ride. He got taped up, took as much Vicodan as he dared, and continued, still in first place.
At the 96-mile mark, he stopped. The pain was so great that he couldn’t go one more step. Four miles from the finish line.
I’d imagine that that’s sort of how a band 10 feels.

I kinda felt that I would fail for sure, but the scores surprised me. Some colleagues even have worse matrix. I think it was because of 2 questions that I left blank and I got closer to 50 for anything between 50 - 70. Thinking 1-2 questions may push me to the pass territory sucks.

I had been Band 10 in 2013, know how it feels. Just take a break and start early and finish early. I didnt ace in 2014, but passed pretty well & I am not the smartest around by any stretch of imagination.
So take a break folks and come back stronger with a lot more vengeance. Do the last 10 years of CFAI AM papers. Once you have done it, redo it, re(re)do it.. And you would be absolutely fine.
All the best wishes.

band 10 as well………..in depression
thought i put in enough work, didn’t feel like i cracked it, but felt like i did enough to pass
started in September reading the syllabus slowly, finished in Jan/Feb
went back and did questions from CFA, then read schweser , then did questions from schweser
then did about 8 complete past papers
listened to you tube videos when i had to do long drives
took 5 days leave prior to exam

i never left a question blank, i knew one or two had me stumped
was considering a retab, but after reading the grading process, my paper was marked probably 3 times already
not going to waste the money, rather register when i have recovered and aim to nail it.
