Band 10

Thanks for this thread. I was feeling rather despondent until I saw how close some others' scores were. Here's mine:

Band: 10

Multiple Choice
Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70%
- Alternative Investments 8 - * -
- Corporate Finance 20 - - *
- Derivatives 12 * - -
- Economics 24 - - *
- Equity Investments 24 - * -
- Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - - *
- Financial Reporting & Analysis 48 * - -
- Fixed Income Investments 28 - * -
- Portfolio Management 12 - - *
- Quantitative Methods 28 - - *

I actually finished with an hour to spare for both papers, because I breezed through ethics, econ, stats. I hate accounting, but I didn't expect to fail it and I guess this is a rude wake-up call to learn it properly this time.

I'm going to take a 2-day accounting class next week, but wanted to ask those CAs and accountants out there: What's the best way to try and understand the basic concepts for Financial Reporting and Analysis? Accounting is like Greek to me.

Does it get closer than this.....

Level 1: Fail

The table below illustrates your subject matter strengths and weaknesses. The three columns on the right are marked with asterisks to indicate your performance on each question or topic area.

Performance band of your overall score among all candidates who failed the exam: 10

Now if I'm doing it right..... the 40/60/80 method. That puts me at a 72%. Kind of feel I got robbed with this score. From what I hear Retabulation is a waist of money.

With this breakdown, you should have passed. The reason why I think you didn't pass is because your FRA section was probably in the low 50s. I think you need to smoke that FRA section (just like you did Ethics) to pass.

Sorry dude. I wish you the best in December. January 2010, you'll be in L2 forum & together we'll crush that L2 in June. Keep your head up.
