Been a while since I last wrote the CFA Level 2 exam (2013)

It’s an excuse but life got in the way…Now that I’m back at it, I feel like I’ll have to review everything from level 2 and pretty much relearn everything. What do you recommend as my best study strategy to prepare for this beast of an exam (Level 3)?
A bit of background - I’m an engineer working in M&A at an i-bank. I guess my second question would be if I should even bother with pursuing the third level. I’m really asking if writing this exam will be worth my time.
Any thoughts?
 
You don’t need to review anything from Level II. Everything that will be tested will be in the CFAI material for Level III.
 
I don’t think anyone would be able to say it is worth it or not for you apart from you. My job isn’t exactly in the CFA core territory, however I know that it will be beneficial in interviews etc. in the future to have it to refer to even if your core responsibilities aren’t linked. I also could have seen myself give up after level I if I had failed or not done level II straight away, but can’t see myself giving up on level III, feel so close to finishing now that it would haunt me not to do it (but that is just me).
As PiratesSayARRR says there isn’t really anything you’d need to go back and review for level III and plenty of people I have seen have had a gap between doing the two and passed.
 
You’re in Calgary? I don’t think having the charter will do much for you unless you want to go to ER or possibly PE. You are already the dynamic PEng in sell side banking.
 
I was in the same boat as you (although it was more like a 7 yr break from L2 to L3). Just start early - you should be fine.
