I am interviewing for a middle office position at BOA taipei branch. They are going to have me take a test, including english, general knowledge about finance i presume, and VBA. Is it worth it to interview for the position. I am more opt to a quant analyst now that I have taken level 3 and I hate being a front office due to the stress. Thus prehaps middle office would be an option?

They did say that the job entails some back office jobs and that is making me wander. They say back office job is BOM, don't they?

It will help you understand how trades flow through systems, and the clearance and settlement aspect. But if you are interested in research, or portfolio mgmt, it will not be of help. Although, you have to start somewhere....

I thought middle office was like HR, Marketing, compliance. Where as backoffice was accounting and OPS. Am I wrong.

Middle office is trade support, and works with the back office operations...

I like Taiwan, moreso than Hong Kong.

I didn't know there was a BofA in Taiwan, but then I haven't been there for 10 years.

I did try to get some money from the Hong Kong BofA to my BofA account in the states, and they said it would take a week. I could have mailed it faster!

I wouldn't work anywhere in Asia except Tokyo. Shanghai has still got a long way to go before I would even think doing a short 6-12 month assignment there.

London and New York - the only place! On another note, New York also has plans to reclaim the tallest building, beating China's new plans.

Didn't get any interviews in Shanghai, huh, Lion?

What's your interview count now? Or have you graduated to your export-import thing full-time?
