Book 6....

Book 6 feeling a tad easy today... got a 91% on test 1 AM (my very first practice exam) and finished with time to spare.

I think it's Miller time!

Maybe I'll skip to Book 7 tomorrow to avoid lulling myself into a false sense of confidence.
 
83% on book 2 AM...I'm thinking I may have to modify my original strategy of waiting another week before I start using the CFAI practice exams. Book 6 is easier than the real deal of course, I'm more and more curious about how big that margin is...
 
Just took my first mock exam from book 6..test 1 am I scored an 76.67%. Here is the breakdown:

Ethics: 83.3%
Quant: 85.7%
Econ: 75%
Acct/CF: 67.6%
Asset Val: 75%
Port Man: 100%

I did better than I thought I would, but am not comfortable at all yet. Really need to work on FSA.
 
I took 2nd exam's AM portion and scored 71%. Its improved from yesterday's 66%.

My first score was 68 then 66 and now 71%. I want to be in upper 70's to get clear picture.
 
i took afternoon session of Book6's exam 2 yesterday.. also took me 6 hours and I scored 65.8% (highest so far!)

i did the qbank from schweser pro and i can easily get 80%+ on their advanced question, what a differences. Oh well, we still have 15 days to go...

Book 6 Scores:

Sample Exam 1 AM: 70.83% (taken as a single 3 hour exam)
Sample Exam 1 PM: 83.33% (taken as a single 3 hour exam)

Sample Exam 2 AM: 77.50% (real exam day conditions)
Sample Exam 2 PM: 74.17% (real exam day conditions)

I decided to take Exam 2 under real exam day conditions (i.e. 3 hour morning session, 2 hour break, 3 hour afternoon session) and I am extremely glad that I did. For one, it was a good feeling to come out in the mid 70s in a real exam type setting. But two, it reminded me just how rigorous a 6 hour exam actually is. For example, of the last 40 questions I answered in the afternoon session, I only got 23 correct. And I could really feel myself struggling mentally as well and just wanting to be done. Had I taken that test as a standalone exam, I have no doubt my score would have been in the upper 70s and maybe low 80s instead of 74%. But, it was a much more accurate assessment of my mental fitness, so to speak.
 
Young_Prof--Looks like there are two hours between sessions. I copied the below from a recent candidate newsletter...

On exam day there are two required sessions, morning (9:00AM�12:00PM) and afternoon (2:00PM�5:00PM). You should allow at least one half-hour before each session for check-in and important instructions, and additional time at the end of each session for exam materials collection and reconciliation.
 
I noticed this also... It says you should allow 1/2 hour, but I thought I read somewhere else that you need to be in the room 1 full hour before the exam?
 
This is interesting, thanks. There was a 1 hour break at the BSAS mock, so I went with that. It makes sense though, because you probably don't leave the room until 12:15 after the AM, and need to be back in by 1:30 at the latest for the PM. The more time for the brain cells to recuperate the better...
