I am looking for some business gift ideas for colleagues at work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for business gift ideas for birthdays, holidays, etc.

Really depends on how well you know the people, how much you want to spend, how personal you want the gifts to be, where they are relative to you in the hierarchy, etc

If you're talking about a secretary/admin assistant that doesn't make that much, maybe a gift certificate to a store he/she likes (or a generic amex gift check with a card).

I've gotten books/DVD's in secret santa gifts.

A more business like gift could be something like a nice leather portfolio.

Hope this helps

Generic gifts:

Chicks- Body wash from BodyWorks or a boutique, Candles and candle-holders, tickets to a play

Guys- A nice pocket knife with a keyring (Buck, Gerber, Cold Steel...screw Victorinox), Polo/Tommy Hilfiger cologne, Tickets to an Auto/Fishing/Gun/Boat show.

Ethical considerations of gift-giving may apply, to avoid perception of impropriety.

cologne as a business gift, eh? Wouldn't try that one if I wear you. . .

Yea if a dude got me cologne that might be weird. Then when you where wearing it one day he could be like "You wearing the cologne I bought you?" It would be an awkward JP Moment.

How'd I get dragged into this? I would never be so tacky to buy a coworker cologne or bodywash. Terrible idea!!!

What if its one of those pens that you flip upside down and her clothes fall off? That is quality

Cologne for a male colleague, not so sure about that... unless he's a cubicle-mate, in which it would be interpreted as a "hint." ;-)

'cologne as a business gift, eh? Wouldn't try that one if I wear you. . .'

now, oldschool, if 'I were you. . .', would that be different?

pen is excellent gift, nice, useful, neutral, fits every age and gender
never anything personal like fragrances, definitely no-no
USB key in any form (pens/MP3 player) are nice as well

go out for beers, get drunk and leer at women. that's a christmas gift that guys remember.
