CAIA - Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst - anyone familiar with this designation? I do see more assets going the way of alternative investments; ala private equity and real estate. Has anyone considered pursuing this designation?

I'm interested in it, but I'm going to pursue the CFA first and see how I fare. CAIA looks interesting because it looks like it involves hedge funds which look pretty sexy to me :) Both the CAIA and the FRM (Financial Risk Management) http://www.garp.com/ look interesting but first things first, gotta pass level 1 of CFA in december!

I am going to get it. It can only help and it easier to get in terms of timelines. What makes you want to get it? What area are you working in or want to get into?

i'm planning on taking it in september - at my employer's cost though )

prep for cfa provided a good start base for caia - so i hope it'd be easier to study for it

plus i've heard it's not that tough and tricky as cfa

I am also planning on it, haven't decided yet.
I am not so sure about how well it is recoginized in the industry.

Also i was reviewing the recommended text books..they are expensive
55 + 85 + 125..and the 1000 bucks for the test

So is it worth it?

Any thought?
