I am registering tonight for the December 2007 CFA Level 1. I am also going to purchase one of the following packages:

1. CFA I Texts, Schweser Q-Bank

2. Schweser Study Guides, Schweser Practice Exams, Schweser Q-Bank

Do the Schweser Study Guides still teach some of the concepts, or is it a strict quick notes solution? I don't want to memorize stuff but not "get" why I'm studying it, if that makes sense. I have a degree in Finance, completed in 2003, and work in Structured Finance (ABS analytics). Which package would you recommend?

I would recommend the Schweser books. They cover everything concisely.

Also I would go on the CFAI website and there is an area where you can download the first study guide of there books for free. This is the whole ethics review straight from them which I found hugely valuable in my studies. But for all other sections I would recommend Schweser.
