CFA Charter Pending (as indicated by CFAI)

OK I know this topic is old and has been discussed numerous times, but after having passed CFA Level III exam, I got this on my CFAI member account page:
Candidate Details
CFA Institute ID: XXX
Candidate Name: XXX
Status: CFA charter pending
If CFAI really forbids the mentioning of “CFA charter pending” anywhere on our LinkedIn page (which seemingly goes in line with the Ethics curriculum), shouldn’t they also refrain from using this notion on their own page?
 
if you really want to put in linkedIn page, the most appropriate way to say is eligble for CFA charter upon required working experience and approval of regular membership.
I guess they reason they dont allow us to do it cause it can mislead to other people whom are not familiar with CFA where as CFA institution understand what it meant. Im just guessing anyways.

^ that doesn’t fit me.
I’m already fully approved on work experience, paid my $$$, and am already a regular member.
And I passed L3. By all accounts, I satisfied ALL the requirements.
 
Once you pass level II you can get your references and work experience approved and be a regular member…

That makes sense.
I do not intend to put any “CFA charter pending” on my linkedin page anyways.
However I still think CFA should NOT use the phrase “CFA charter pending” at all, even on their members’ account webpages. It is just misleading.
I’m sure many people who passed CFA level 3 will just be tempted to copy the entire phrase “Status: CFA charter pending” on the CFAI page to display it on LinkedIn. It appears to be just stating the fact: according to CFAI, my status is “CFA charter pending”.

Waiting an additional month is a kick in the junk.

Same here. Already a regular member but still CFA charter pending. Why is that?

Is this only after L2 or could be done after L1 as well?
Where’s this mentioned on the CFAI website?
 
i’m in the same boat, and I’m sure many people on here are. it is absolutely ridiculous that we are forced to wait to a month to actually be recognized and use the designation. I’ve been busting my ass for 4 years and I made sure i completed all of the requirements so that I wouldn’t have to wait for this. it’s pretty awkward having to explain this ridiculous rule when people ask why i haven’t updated my resume yet or why my signature hasn’t changed on my emails.
 
Actually, what is even more bizarre is that I had received an email from CFAI that contained a new article with a quote from John Rogers CEO of CFAI that called us ”new charterholders” (It was working a week ago, and apparently now it’s taken down)

So the CEO of CFAI called us new charterholders? but we can’t? even though we finished all the requirements? and the CFAI website calls us charter pending? but we can’t call ourselves charter pending?

Ditto, I ponied-up the big-a$$ed $$ also!
 
I think what appears on the CFA website its merely procedural. Upon awarding charter, the message obviously disappears. The contentious issue is whether you hold out to public like - Adam, CFA Charter Pending. However in your detailed resume there is nothing wrong in stating the fact that “my CFA Charter is pending at the moment”.

If I need 6 months more work experience, do I apply now and submit my references, and etc? Or do I just wait the 6 months then submit everything?
 
The website can store your references and work history…you can submit your application later.
According CFAI’s data:
152,035 have passed level 3 since 1963.
From iteracm’s link to bloomberg article, now we have:
102,000 CFA Charterholders.
24,754 Level 3 Candidates in 2012
152,035 - 102,000 - 24,754*52% = 37,163
37,163 people who passed level iii are no longer CFA Charterholders, retired or …
 
^ that list can include those that passed level 3 but never got the work experience
