Hi, I just took the June with the 2006 Dec. Schweser materials.

If I find out I failed, I have a dilemma...My materials are too old for 2007 Dec. Should I buy 2007 Dec. new schweser materials or 2007 CFAI materals?

thanks.

or you can try to buy used stuff from the people who pass at a deep discount.

Who here really thinks that 2006 materials are too outdated for 2007? I know they change the LOS a little, but I would think you could figure out the difference and independantly research any new material. Just because they change 30% of the readings, doesn't mean any concepts have changed.

To specifically answer the question asked. I would be more concerned about the fact that you have only study notes and not the CFAI books. So, ultimately I don't think your materials are outdated, but if you absolutely must buy something new, I would opt for the CFAI books to use with your 2006 Schweser notes.

thanks Maverick, I was considering that. When I took the level 1, I felt that the Schwesher notes for Port folio management was kinda weak.

I have both 2006 and 2007 Scheswer books - the biggest change was in Book 2 economics, where they removed (not changed) some LOS and replaced them with brand new ones. With the rest of the books I agree, the changed LOS are mostly re-worded or explained in more detail but not much more.

thanks, I read that also. CFAI institute seems to change their curriculum once a year rather than twice.

When you say "re-worded" are the los essentially the same old ones, but updated?

Dr. Eaton at Schweser explains in detail the differences between two exams. I have emailed CFAI, they will not give up what exactly the changes are as concerns their recommended readings. As any baccalaureate is aware, a subsequent edition of a textbook may have about, oh, two words that appear to have changed. The Economics text probably dropped lines like, "innovative companies like Global Crossing offer greater economies of scale..." and subsequently expect you to buy the entire offering.
