CFA dread! Retaker post

Need Help, I have failed level 3 twice in bands 2 and 3 respectively. I studied from scheweser notes only and so was the case when i passed prior levels. In my first attempt 2010 i wasnt able to complete the AM session and wasnt expecting to pass frankly but in 2011 things werent as bad - band 3 was a shocker!
what do i do?

I failed level 3 twice as well, but both times I was in Band 8.
Band 2 to Band 3 means you also did really bad in the MC section too.
You probably need to wipe everything clean and pretend you never read anything and re read everything from scratch. A lot of people who fail and restudy the materials actually find it harder to pass given that they think they know some of the material because they have read/study it before but don’t know it solid enough.
I suggest you approach it in the way that you are writing this as a new exam and not a re-writer.

Your help is appreciated.
Thanks
For level 3 AM questions, you will quickly find out that the essay questions isn’t really essay per se. It’s really just a question and you have to answer the question with a specific answer, so it should match 100% to get the marks. Almost all answers can be point form and answered in one sentence;you pretty much have to be dead on to the point.
This is the case for all the questions including the personal and institutional financial question

do u think CFAI books would make much of a difference? or i shud stick to schweser?

Unless you don’t have to work and have lots of time on your hands then read the CFAI. I suggest you read schweser and just do questions from CFAI then focus on your weak areas.
There’s too much fluff on the CFAI books; it’s good if you really have time to read through all the details which won’t be tested.

“Life is good”; HA! You graduate from the MBA full of debt and lost opportunity cost and still have to worry about the Level 3 exam!
Recently passed Level 3 and decided NO MBA, Life is really good! CAIA it is.
lol really dood? you gonna chirp my decision to do an mba?

Not a chirp, more like a thunder. If you really want to go down this path and have a debate; please join and discuss this at MBAforum.com. Lay off this topic on a level 3 forum when people are studying away.
LIFE IS GOOD!

it looks like no one has failed these many times as I did. My last serious attempts brought to band 10 three years in a roll. I am hitting a bottleneck here. Last run, I did all the after-chapter questions and focus only on the CFAI books instead of Schweser but still did not push me through. My private wealth secion in am seems to be the weakest link. I read someone here posting about the topic has changed dramatically. I have not even open the books now but wonder what different strategy I should adopt this time. My energy has run low. Should I use a top passer to tutor me? What about using a review course? Which one? Problem not Schweser…since the notes did not get me through. Should I do more practice tests in the review course in addition to the after-chapter problems? Need your help!!!

Don’t give up! I wrote 3 times on this exam too. Just focus on the AM wealth management section and institutional assets management cause those are core topics. Other questions are luck of the draw.
Just read schweser quickly and do like as many questions as possible. The year I passed I didn’t read a lot of the material; I just did questions for 3 straight months! You need practice. Try that method.

Which question sources did you find most valuable - Schweser Practice Exams Vol I and II, or something else?

whystudy,
what do you find the practise questions for the last 3 months push? do you mind sharing how many points (out of the 180 in am and 180 in pm session) did you score greater than 70%? whystudy, were you in band 10 in 2010? do you think doing the practise questions make the difference? your inputs are much appreciated.
