Yeah thanks for the heads up, I’ve heard that before that intense heat makes the ink disappear… My consoling thought is that erasable pens are actively recommended now by the CFAI so I’m hoping they would play their part and be cognisant of this fact… And act accordingly. No coffee mugs erroneously placed on exam booklets etc.Knock On Wood wrote:
Careful with the Frixion pens.
If you put anything warm on top of the ink it completely disappears.
I put a container of food on top of a mock i was grading for maybe 5 seconds and all the ink disappeared when I took it off.
Hypothetically, if a grader rested his coffee on top of your exam all your answers could be erased.
I believe there is a new infrared retabulationGersonides wrote:
I bought some black ink frixion pens last week after reading someone’s recommendation in an earlier thread on here.
They SUCK and I will mos def not be using them.
The ‘black’ ink is more like a medium grey color, I prefer a bold black. I ordered “fine 0.7mm” tip gel pens, and I find these to draw much more of a thicker line, which makes my writing look messier.
I like a gel ink rollerball pen; makes writing smoother, faster, and easier, and these are really more like ballpoints, which I generally can’t stand.
Most importantly, as another poster mentioned, I learned that the ink disappears due to heat, and no way would I chance having a pass compromised is there’s a remote chance that my answers could disappear.
You can put your paper in the fridge for 30 min, the ink will reappear againKnock On Wood wrote:

I’m wondering the same. Maybe they want to make sure it is readabled2rockstar wrote:
I see lot of people are persisting with erasable pens when pencil is a more easy option. What’s the rationale here? isn’t using pencil more easy? what am i missing?
i followed your advice and bought 5 of those. Convenient but they do not last long !S666 wrote:I’m going for pilot frixion erasable pens…. Can scratch out and erase to my hearts content![]()
