Seems like these are really the only resources to use for good prep Qs for actual exam. Is this true? No providers have alot of difficult itemset questions to use as practice as well?

Yes EOC is much better than schweser q bank. EOC is in vignette style and much more challenging. I personally thought the CFA mocks were easier than schweser mocks but i know a bunch of people that disagreed. Nevertheless you should take all the CFAI mocks you can get your hands on. I would recommend doing as many mocks as possible from a 3rd party provider. I took about 10 mocks I think.

Thanks - where do you go to get the past CFAI mocks?

I studied exclusively from the CFAI materials….did and re-did the EOC Q’s many times and ended up with above 70% in every category. Did the same on Level 1 as well.
Did put in about 400 hrs on each level as well, but if you have enough time I would definately recommend ONLY studing CFA material and not wasting money on 3rd party providers.
If you’re short on time then perhaps the other materials can help, I don’t know.

don’t waste money on 3rd parties unless you are desperate. The only material you really need, and IMO most effective, is CFAI books. did L1 and 2 on CFAI books… just start early and don’t get overwhelmed. Use a highlighter and make notes on the spot.. probably more concise than Schweser right there. And you’re not really going to run out of EOCs.

ebookbrowse has most of the past mock exams.
Go over every EOC at least once never assume you know how to complete the problem.
As for third party courses, some people swear by them others thought they were crap. I liked the Schweser video instruction a lot (not the online classes the other video series) I found it was great to pause and repeat or even end a video lesson and come back to it a day later when your are working on something like Pensions or Intercorporate Investments.

Whether you decide to use a 3rd party provider or not (I think they’re a waste of time and money), you should focus on the CFAI material as the core of your study material and use the 3rd party material only as supplementary material to help you in certain areas if you think you need a different perspective.
It seems to me that the people that put in the required hours studying ONLY from the CFAI material do just fine.
