Rakshath,

First thing, I answered you questions with a fair answers but I'm just pointing out,
your arguments makes not much sense, so if someone write little application and fiddling
with computer around, read PC DIY every week...you think that's enough to get you
into IT industry?

You seems know what you want but you have little idea of what to do with it....you are
certainly the first one to say you can't study for more than an hour and you are not
going to. Without sacrificing, I wonder how you will achieve your goal. this is like
someone saying I can't debug for more than 1 hour, what wold you think?

Second, you are only...24 and you think you know the world already? There are
much more IT ppl here than you think, if you do some search, there are lots ppl
wanting to go from IT to finance, sitting for CFA and be relatively humble....you
are just...not one of them. In addition, with IT...i just don't understand how can someone at your age be so confident....

with all due respect, good luck if you are taking lv1, and have fun.

"I always knew i was in wrong place, but only took up a job in IT cos, I wudnt have done justice to my degree had I switched right after college...."

you do not understand the concept of a sunk cost

I completely agree with you on that...index was around 3200 and now its at 12000 so any one could have made money in this period..but like have said before, I brought this up not to claim that am an expert in this !

for your first question ...IT is just overated ,companies might not take a guy without a proper degree, but any one with decent grasping power can be trained to do more than 75% of IT jobs..anyways the point I was trying to make was I dont deserve to be made fun off, just cos I have asked a few silly question about topics I have not been exposed to!

I was only frank about the way I have studied in the past...but am sure commitment wont be an issue this time around!

why ,only 24? I mean here in india am made to feel that am already old..we are expected to know wat you are doing at this age.
I had that wen I first visited the site ,there wud be a lot of IT guys moving to finance ..but some one replyd as though it was the stupid thing to do.

finally I think its not fair to judge me based on few posts I have made...I hope i ahve not offended anyone!

I should totally rekindle the "flame" thread.

Wegowayback - How old are you?

rakshath,

I 've heard of a guy who had similar background to yours.

He passed L1 by studying sincerely for 45 minutes everyday in the train, on his way to work.

As soon as he completed his L1, he found a job in a buy-side firm, for a high 6 figure salary.

So don't listen to others, you have all the right skills ...

Go for it & enroll in the program.

Take that rope.

And hang yourself.

cfa_mba, do you realize how bad that advice is? 45 mins during train ride and no finance background? I hope I have a poor sense of humor and you are joking.

What did he do on the way home from work?

"As soon as he completed his L1, he found a job in a buy-side firm, for a high 6 figure salary."

What, were they paying him in Taka?

hahahaha, naughty advice.

ok, I guess you should understand by now, it's not that you offended anybody.
It's the way you are expressing yourself.

And if you can't take joke or think it's not funny, read back...I did say "don't take me wrong....blah blah blah"...
