I am currently working in institutional liquidity / cash management sales (generally through a broker/dealer - not direct sale) and am contemplating L2 for the 3rd time. I'd ultimately like to get into institutional investment mgt sales / relationship mgt / marketing (marketing to pensions, endowments, foundations etc) or work as a product specialist / engineer supporting institutional products and working with the sales teams.

How valuable is the CFA going to be in a non-investment role? I know it "can't hurt", but I wonder if it is worth the time and effort going forward. I am also about 1/2 done a part-time MBA program as I would like to get into management as I progress in my career.

Most of my firms RM have a CFA. I can only think of one that does not but he is the number 1 guy in whole department in terms of fees. I think it should be the be the norm for inst. RM's. Ours are taking home in the area of 150-600K.

What type of backgrounds do they have and what type of firm are you at?

If you are open to a few more questions offline drop me an email at [email protected] Thanks.

They come from a few different backgrounds but most worked in my firm for over 8 years in other roles. They range from large corp clinets to endowment and taft. They all have degree and been in banking most of career.

I am at one of the midwest trust company.
