Hi,
Looks like this is a great resource/community, glad I joined. Here comes my first "newb" question.

I am a financial analyst in a Sales Finance organization of a Fortune 500 company, software industry. My role is pretty much reporting on pipeline, bookings, etc. as well as helping with integration of newly acquired companies into these processes.

My goal is to get on board with our internal M&A group down the road. Will CFA be a good alternative to an MBA, next 4 years MBA is not an option for me. Can CFA be actually considered a vehicle in internal M&A or is it more of a just a plus on the resume?

Thanks.

Going out drinking with your boss & his boss would be the best alternative to an MBA if yo are that keen on the switch.

Anyway CFA can't hurt, and yeah, welcome!

i work on the m&a for my company, and i think pursuing the cfa has helped. i'm still pretty young, but people don't doubt my work; i think my passing the tests has a lot to do with that.

Bernanke,
So I guess CFA for internal M&A has just a "cant hurt" rating, not a "alternative to MBA" rating ?

yeah, i wouldn't consider it an alternative to an mba. i'm still planning on going back to school soon.
