My Car got broken into today! in my parkade in downtown Edmonton..
The one day I decide to leave my Bag in the car to enjoy a lunch out and not study through it.. I get jacked!! (Got away with 3 Schweser Study Books, Ethics/Quant and Econ/FSA curriculum bundled books and my TI BAII Plus + TI BAII Plus Prof Calculators)

I've just re-ordered the Schweser Study notes and just ordered the Fundamentals of financial analysis text book.. This is an expensive month!!

I don't take notes on paper.. b/c I mark up my books and study guides.. basically hi-lite and write in the most important parts to know right in the books.. That way by the time its time to take the exam.. I just focus on the parts iv'e marked in the book..
Any suggestions on how to tackle the material now???.. with only 2 months to go.. I just want to basically review FSA, Equity, FI and Quant...

Whats sad is my books and bag less the calculators are probably sitting in a dumpster!!
Why couldn't they have just stolen my car!?!

Really @#$%& man. Maybe the perp is a candidate. Look for your material exam day.

Ask the town crier to gather all the L1 candidates, and then get Chief Wiggum on the case.

If the thief is not a CFA candidate, he probably regret taking the notes. He wasted his effort and gets what he deserves.

Why would anyone steal study notes, esp ones that are marked up by another person?

>> Why would anyone steal study notes

sounds like they took the bag without looking at what was inside

Same thing happened to me - in Boston. I actually got my stuff back. Thankfully, the theives were only looking for cash - and they dumped the rest of my stuff in on the sidewalk. Luckily, a guy walking his dog the next morning found my backpack, leafed through my stuff, and found/called my cell phone. I had three Schweser books, my own note cards, calculator, and more.

After making your police report, I would recommend taking a few hours to scour the neighborhood. If you were a thief, and you stole a backpack with a lot of useless crap in it (CFA stuff) you would want to ditch it asap. Look in dumpsters, alleys, behind buildings, anywhere that makes sense. It might also be wise to talk to any folks in the neighborhood to see if they have any ideas. Perhaps you will get lucky and a dogwalker found your sfuff.

One last thing, look on Craig's list lost/found. Maybe someone found your stuff and is holding it for you.

Best of luck

Thanks.
Yeah I don't think they got a good look inside the bag.. probably cause my alarm was going off.. it was a grab and go.. cause I had 2 nice pairs of sunglasses on my visor and had a new ipod in the glove box... Thought the parkade was safe.. but guess not!!
I checked after work around the area and in every alley way I thought the perp might garbage it.. (about 4 hours)

When I got home I re-ordered the study guides and just the FSA book... rush ordered so they should get here by friday or monday...
Well at least it didn't happen 2 weeks before exam day...
I don't think I had anything in the bag with my information on it.. hmmmm I might have had a copy of my Resume and it has my cell # on it.. maybe i'll get a call...

Who knows.. maybe the perp opened up the FSA book and found it sooooo DAM interesting that he/or she has decided to leave a life of crime to pursue the Charter!!!!

indeed. That stuff is pretty heavy

the thief thought it's gold inside, actually it's the menu to make gold

maybe they should add that into ethics section ...Standard 6A "CFA Candidate shall not steal study material unless written agreement has been obtained".

I suggest that once you catch the scumbag who stole your CFA materials, as punishment you should force him to study ALL of the material and take the exam.

That would be fitting.

ROFL.

LOL, that would be a punishment and if he has a serious criminal background the judge can sentence him to pass all three, which statistically might be a life sentence.

Hey...

Who wants to work up the statistical significance of such a timeline?

lol

Check out your halfprice books. Maybe the alleged thief's Modus operandi is steakng books from cars near universities. he figured there was not enough money in collecting aluminum cans, radios were getting to difficult to fence anymore and he turned to lifting books for the couple bucks they get at the used book store.

You'll find them in the accounting, business section marked down to a bargain price.

Take a close look at the bookstore employees also. One could likely be the perp....especially if they know much more about the CFA books when you ask if they have any available.

Go back to the parkade with the police report and receipts for any stolen items. Then demand that they reimburse you.

I know they have a sign up that says, "we are not responsible for lost or stolen items", but they really have a responsibility for security and they can not contract outside of their responsibilities. At a small claims local court it would be a win for you. Assuming of course the parkade did little in the way of security to protect the customers. Which is usually the case.

Are you kidding me? What an irresponsible thing to say. Nobody who was an employee at the Parkade stole his books, a criminal did. Just because it happened at the Parkade does not make them responsible.

What an idiot. It's people like you who were on the jury when they ruled that it's the fault of tobacco companies for people getting addicted to cigarettes.

I hope you are never in a position which directly influences other people's lives.
