Why CFA Institute dosen’t conduct CFA level 2 and 3 exams in December. It will help candidate complete the program quickly, rather than waiting 10 months to re appear.

Too keep it exclusive and prestigious. Now that I have passed I am all for maintaining the exam one time per year.

I suspect that L2 will be available in December in the not too distant future, but probably only for people who took it in June. The reason I say just for June re-takers is that I don’t think CFAI wants people to be able to pass all three exams in a 12 month period (L1 in June, L2 in Dec, and L3 the following June). Allowing only re-takers for L2 in Dec keeps it at 18 months minimum. L3 requires too much in the way of grading to do 2x per year, so I don’t see that happening anytime soon. This is all just my unconnected opinion though.

I’d rather not have the CFA charter diluted by IT guys trying to break into finance.

As L2 is all multiple choice, it’s just a matter of time before it is offered twice a year. The powers to be at the Institute are crunching numbers to see if it makes them more revenue.

L2 used to be administered in essay form as well, they may very well go back to that. I for one, would not mind being a grader if the opportunity presented itself.

CFAI makes it sound as if it is the development of the test (market analysis, current practices etc) that makes it necessary to offer it only once a year, not necessarily the grading of the essay portion. I think they say it takes 13 months to do the work for one exam.

I am in favor of NO change to exam frequency. But I will support making L2 and L3 even harder XD

^ Great, then the only people that will have time to pass is the unemployed and the BOM. That’s going to be the reputation of the program.

^ lol
Back office monkey
34 up, 9 down

B.O.M for short. An employee of a financial service firm who pushes paper ie: does cost accounting, settles accounts, etc. This employee thinks that by becoming a Chartyred Financial Analyst, they will move to a more glamorous front office position and make more money. B.O.M’s are easily placated by free donuts or pizza.
Douchebag and Lion are both destined to be back office monkeys for Harvey Industries.

I think CFA Institute should atleast start taking L2 and L3 exams in december for reappearing candidates.
I had written to the CFA Institute, this is what they replied.
We began offering the Level I exam in December to address the needs of professionals wanting to finish the CFA Program more quickly. At this time, we do not plan to offer the Level II and III exams in December. However, if we begin offering Levels II and III in December, we will notify our clients as early as possible.

Like I mentioned above, they are doing a cost-benefit analysis to determine if it’s in their best interest. Non-profit organization, yeah right.

Please dont be too crossed with the IT guys :) I am one of them :( Sighhhhh!

The so called “high rollers” above that feel entitled to cast dispersions on folks that are simply trying to better themselves is pretty obnoxious! The self entitled are always reluctant to encounter a little competition.

I don’t know why back office gets a lot of hate. I have friends who work/worked in these roles and it seems like a well paying, low pressure job. Coupled with the bonus potential, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made more money than me!
