Hi friends,
Another law grad here (McGill) inquiring about the usefulness of the CFA exams. I have experience in the litigation finance industry and was wondering whether this would suffice to attain the CFA designation. In a nutshell, hedge funds/private equity groups that offer non-recourse loans to claimants for a share of the proceeds. A lot of legal due diligence but portfolios almost always branch out to other areas (i.e. non-practicing entites/patent shells).
Also a question about difficulty. I’ve read 2/3rds of a CFA affilliated text called ‘Equity Asset Valuation’ by Pinto, Henry, Robinson et. al. Dealt with dividend discount models, free cash flow models etc. Website claims it is typically used for the Level II exam. Anybody have experience with this text? Found it manageable, so can I feel confident for the Level I exam? How difficult is the equity valuation section vis-a-vis derivatives and the other sections?
Also, does anybody know of a groupon promotion going on that would allow me to register for the June exam at a steep discount?
Best.
