You need to hang out at the Water Cooler to appreciate these oddballs!!

in my experience, accounting designations would only truly be useful if you were a banking or financials equity analyst. it won’t help much for most other jobs but it wouldn’t hurt. i don’t think anyone would look down on your for getting the ACCA.

I’m a CPA, and it’s done me a lot of good. Probably more than the CFA ever will.
In America, the CPA is very widely known and respected. People like to see the initials “CPA” after a person’s name. “CFA” is not as well known, and most people don’t know how difficult the exam is. (I, for one, thought, “It can’t be harder than the CPA exam.” How wrong I was.)
So I agree that having the ACCA (if it really is indeed like the CPA) can never hurt you. How much it will help depends on the type of job you want to get.

brother i really hv no time for it sorry!!!!but will do it vhn i m free….i would appreciate any advice from you on how to make a successful career!!!instead of “hanging out at water cooler etc….”

Bro i know but i think it can never harm since education never goes waste…and i m also looking to migrate so acca might help me in that ,as it is universally accepted in over 170 countries world wide….

brother u r exactly correct…..and even i 1st thought of CPA instead of ACCA since CPA is less time consuming ,questions are mcq types in CPA …CPA can be done in 6 months to 18 months as i have heard….but problem for me was CPA exams are not conducted in india so it would have been costly for me to go to usa and give those exams. On the other hand acca exams are conducted in india and 170 other countries although its quite tougher i think compared to cpa since acca has 14 papers to clear!!!!but i appreciate ur thoughts……here is d acca website for u if u need to see it ur self http://www.accaglobal.com/

I used to work for an accounting firm and I still had no clue what ACCA meant until I googled it. There’s a difference between “universally accepted” from a technical standpoint, and people actually knowing what you’re talking about without having to search the internet.
As far as all these credentials, my first thought would be that’s impressive, but the 2nd thought would be what on earth did this guy want to do for a job? I mean, you’re looking to combine a general masters business degree with a more specialized finance cert, a super specialized cert for risk management people, and an accounting cert that might not mean anything if they don’t know what it means (see above).
All this is before you realize that actual work experience will mean more then all 3 of your additional credentials combined. My suggestion: get a job somewhat related to finance and slow the F down on the credentials. Being 26 with an alphabet soup behind your name isn’t going to mean much without decent work experience.

bro ur correct but as i have already mentioned that i am in final year of my masters so i cannot do job right now and want to clear atleast cfa l2 by then, and frm i have cleared in 1st yr of my mba along with four papers of acca……..at the moment my aim is to complete my masters with atleast cfa l2 and 8 cleared papers of acca…..i will be 24 by then….i will take the job …work for 2 years….complete my cfa/acca remaining exams and then would try to move to a developed country!!!!!! bro why will a foreign employer take me if i donot offer him some thing unique and more than others?????yes u r correct acca is not as known may b…but i hv no option cpa exams are not conducted in india and acca is only option left…

If you start going to employers saying, “I have an accounting cert, finance cert, an IT cert, a financial planning cert, A b-val cert, an internal audit cert, an m&a cert, an HR cert, and a tax cert!” They will ask, what does this guy actually do?
Get a job that you like. Then get the right initials for that job.
Do not get initials for a job that you have never had and don’t know if you want.
