CFA + MBA +... or Freemason?

I always wanted to know, how many people here have tried (and/ or succeed) in during any so called “secret society”?
It seems like people spend a lot of time and effort getting every certificate, degree, charter under the moon, but after all, these do not guarentee success and money. Isn’t it worth the while to at least try to get yourself involved in some kind of “brotherhood”?
It doesn’t have to be freemasons, but it’s just one of the examples where members are all elite and they have all kinds of network to give their members all kinds of privileges. Definitely more universal and powerful than a Harvard business school degree… and quite honestly, the chance of getting into one of these societies is probably higher?
Mnd to share your thoughts/ experience guys?

I had a job at a printing company the summer between high school and college. The janitor was a freemason. That kind of soured me on the whole idea.
 
Anyone go to the George Washington Masonic Temple in Arlington, VA, near Washington DC?
When I lived in DC, a friend visited and we went there… and that place was just weird. The building itself is nice, but it definitely had this quasi-sinister secret society feel to it. It just permeated the air, like a warm fog in the middle of the nihgt.

Actually that’s not the case.
Many of them are very willing to tell peopel they are masons but they just don’t want to (or can’t) tell you the details as to who’s who and who’s done what.
 
At one point the Free Masons were very powerful. This was when they broke off from the Knights Templar. Now who did the Free Masons become? I don’t think that it’s the same. Organizations change. Maybe the Free Masons turned into the WEF or Bilderberg?

But is it better to take CFA + FRM + MBA + CPA… and then just trying to get an entry level job?
Just for argument’s sake, it’s something to consider if you want the “network” if you can’t get into the top MBA programs.
 
When you’re unemployed or underemployed, the solution isn’t studying for more designations.
 
I know a few Freemasons. They wear their ring and one has a small sticker on the back of his bumper. There is nothing secret to them being in the society. I’ve never asked them about it nor have they offered anything about it. To be honest I don’t think it’s as elite and powerful as people think.

Hmmm… it depends.
It may not be the case for finance, but i can’t say that for sure in other industries.
Because in many science disciplines, you do get jobs only after you have your phD for instance, or you go back to school to become a teacher, or get the license to sell real estate or insurance…
Hard to say.
 
I don’t understand all that society sht. I was at a college reunion a few years back with some friends, and my college friends, TO THIS DAY, will not share any of the secrets of the inner sanctum of their Frat. It’s like some gayass decorum secret to maintain.
I never understood greek life, I do not understand societies, I suppose I could be on board for Bilderberg or Bones should I ever get an invite.

Most people are drawn to this, they like to be part of something exclusive, secretive, scarce.
We all would like to be invited as VIPs to parties, special access to backstage, skip the line, secret passage.
People still say that as masons you can get away with a lot, like traffic tickets, if you show your dues card to the police. Or you get escorted at airport and get special treatment like “VIP” passage ways instead of going through custom like the rest of people. There is something in their rules that states you must help other masons as long as it doesn’t hurt your personal safety. So basically it’s just another frat/ alumni network. Nothing more special than that.
ALTHOUGH they say, the higher degree you’ve got, the more privileged information you get, and you will know more of the underground workings of societies… they even say, many of them (33 degrees masons) got tickets to the “ark” when doom’s day come. Much like what happened in the movie 2012.
Hey, i dont know if any of it is true, but it’s only $100 USD per year for membership to find out! If i were a man, i would try it too ^_^

It sounds like you recently watched a documentary on Freemasons.
joining isn’t as easy as filling out an application and paying money. You have to be invited to join then get approved.

Hahahaha, no, it’s just from what i’ve heard over the years.
But no, you don’t get invited, “to be one, ask one”
You do need to be approved via a vote, if nobody gives you the black marble then you’re in.

I meant finance. In this biz, you learn more on the job than most other industries. You can hire a high school dropout or an arts major and they can do well if trained and mentored.
