It sounds like you recently watched a documentary on Freemasons.
joining isn’t as easy as filling out an application and paying money. You have to be invited to join then get approved.
Hahahaha, no, it’s just from what i’ve heard over the years.
But no, you don’t get invited, “to be one, ask one”
You do need to be approved via a vote, if nobody gives you the black marble then you’re in.
Sounds a little too easy to be elite.
Existing masons run background checks on you though.
Like they would go to your home to make sure you actually live there, and your employment history, your family background, etc. these info are shared with the lodge before the vote takes place.

And you think they can get all these VIP treatments and privileged information and don’t do much in return? Paying fees wouldn’t be enough. It is literally like selling your soul to the devil, according to conspiracy theories.

Of course you have to contribute, you have to share information and use your ability and power to help other masons whenever possible. i don’t know about the selling your soul to the devil part, but you are expected to be loyal to the organization and you are mason for life.

Nobody in the StoneCutters?
Ever see the movie Breaking Away (and yes, I get that it’s a Simpsons reference)? The IU kids call the locals cutters (because of the limestone in the region). My Dad’s family’s from that area, so I guess I can consider myself one. My great-grandfather was a real Stone Cutter and I know my grandfather was a Mason (because I got a Mason scholarship for college). I’m a legacy.

I am surprised as many go-getters as we have on this forum, not that many people have tried to get into a “secret” society to get ahead?
