CFA + Relationship=Conflict

Let’s hear everyone’s stories on how studying for the CFA has damaged your relationship/relationships.
 
I had to break up with my gf two weeks before the level 1 exam cuz she was stressing me out. We ended up getting back together though.
 
wife took an extended vacation visiting her parents for a month - got so much work done :)
 
more studying = less dates = less physical contact = the feeling that you are just roomates who fool around occasionally.
 
I date women and am looking for one that is well educated (like me), has a schedule to organize her time (like me), and makes the time for me. It’s a fun process to go out there and see all the different types of women there are and learn more about myself in the process! I’m 26 now, so I see myself as having a lot of time to try and find “the perfect one” but we’ll see how much I compromise after a while ;)
I’ve been in long relationships (2 years max) before and I never broke up with them because of my CFA studies (although I don’t need to work, which makes my only job studying for the CFA/IMBA). It was more of a lack of common values that caused the break up. Spending time together was only a problem like 5% of the time.
 
you should do that speed dating business or internet meetups. i have never tried them personally, but anyone with minimal game should do nicely in that environment.
CFA just makes me go to bed earlier and makes work more difficult. hours are 9-530 but i come in at 730 and study. closer to the exam i will come in at 615 and this is really where the stress and work performance suffer even more.
 
I am single which is bloody great for the CFA Program. I don’t know how you people in relationships do it.
 
Man!! During level I, almost got divorced since I wasn’t expecting the amount of work I had to put into the program. Total mismanage the expectation. During LII, still constant fight. During LIII, my wife went to France for 4 month (vacation, visit her family members).

i dont get when people say they almost got divorced or their GFS almost left them or did leave them when they were studying. why would you want to be with someone who doesnt support you in your career? its not that you took time off to just watch football and drink beer and ignored her.
 
My wife gets a little needy at times, but all in all she has been extremely supportive.
My relationships with friends have taken an absolute nosedive since my wife and child demand nearly all of my free time.
 
my wife has been fine with it since i am getting up early. when you get up early and study when your significant other is sleeping, it doesnt seem to bother them than when you study AFTER work during the peak hang out/chill time
 
That’s impressive - I always tell myself I should wake up early for studying, but it’s never happened.

My studying all the time made my GF hungry for me more.

you know, its really only hard to do the first three-four times. after that your body naturally will adjust and you may findyourself gettin sleepier around nighttime. once you adjust, you get used to it and are now waking up earlier weekends too (since your used to it). this gives me longer weekend days

You are right…during those times, I did question about our relationship. I was wondering the same thing too. My only explanation to that is man (most man) thinks with logic, woman (most woman) thinks with emotion and feeling.
 
I convinced my GF to take the CFA. Instead only I study before, we study together now…
 
Yep, you said it dood. CFA is the ultimate test to see if she is supportive during the worst possible circumstances (short of you going to war or something). Actually it really is war, you against CFAI for 5 months.
I’ve ditched two chicks so far who just couldn’t hack it and it was for the best, if being supportive is just too much to ask of them, show em the door!
