What’s everyones thoughts on these? They seem to be pretty decent as far as an exam proxy goes for PM session.

I’m hoping those are a bit more difficult than the actual PM section. Seems like that’s what past takers think, or at least it’s been the case for previous levels…

I was literally just thinking about creating a chain to discuss this very topic. I haven’t seen much discussion on these but since they’re put out by CFAI, I have to imagine that they’re a valuable study tool and, hopefully, representative of the actual exam.
For those topics that I haven’t completed yet (I’ve done maybe equities and ethics and some derivs), I just copied the cases into word and PDF’d it (~90 pages) so that I can sit down with a paper doc and enter my answers in online.
My goal is to get through all of these before exam day.

If I recall from Level II, the actual CFA Exam was very similar to the topic tests in terms of format and representativeness. I found the CFAI Topic Tests were actually more difficult than the actual exam on Level II. It’s safe to say that this could be the case at Level III as well. I’ve been using 10 Topic Tests as proxies for PM Mocks.

I know 3/6 for sure on any given test.
But, I can guess 4/6 usually - WHICH I HATE.

That would be great if they are harder than the actual. I agree that I think they are beneficial and probably most representative of the exam in comparison to third party providers. Supposedly they’ve been around for a couple years - never knew that was the case!!
I have done derivatives, behaviour finance and alternatives so far. Scored about 80% average on the 9 derivatives one and and maybe 70% on the other two. Going to be doing fixed income over the next couple and will let you guys know how it goes.

I had done them all before I even started practice exams, and did them one subject at a time. The fact there’s 10 for fixed income and 9 for derivatives compared with 2-4 for most other topics says a lot I think. Those were my two weaker areas so having that many really helped me while i was revising those areas. I found last year at level 2 that these were very similar to the format of the exam vignettes, so should prove to be great practice for the PM exam this year. If I have time I’m definitely going to do them again.
Whatever’s missing from the topic tests will probably be tested on June 4!
