New designations seem to be popping up every day! Just when I thought markets were consolidating on a few, i.e. CA and CFA, it looks like there are a few more coming our way. I've been told accounting firms are pushing for the chartered business valuator (CBV) designation for its valuation and advisory services as well as a new corporate finance designation. I know there were a few short posts on this earlier, but I would love to hear from some valuation folks on whether this is worth anything or just a short-term fad...

Thanks.

First off, CBV is nothing new, its been around a for a long time.
I had an interview not too long ago in an accounting firm for the corporate finance department and they prefered CBV over CFA for the type of work they did (a lot of eveluation and quantification), this is not uncommun for big 4 firms because CBV is all about corp. finance and CFA is more market finance oriented.
