For level 2, I pretty much only did the vignettes, since that represented what was tested
Now for level 3, I am doing everything, from vignette to open ended etc, every CFAI EOC question.
My point is I find there to be an extraordinary number of questions, particularly essay style ones, and they take very long to do, I find myself not speeding through these as quickly as I would have liked.
Any one else finding these to take a very long time, especially if you are writing out your answers to the essay questions?

I’ve been through all the EOC’s twice and they do take a very long time to do. Especially the questions after Fixed Income - Part 1. The first time through I didn’t put pen to paper and the second time I did. I’m attempting to keep my answers as concise as possible (think: one sentence, unless they ask for several answers).
I think S2000’s suggestion that you spend more time thinking and less time writing is a good solution to avoid writing too much or to ensure that you put your best answer first. All that said, the questions take a long time and there doesn’t seem to be a way around that, but they’ve proven to be far better learning tools than the itemsets. I really hate the format of this test…

Bear in mind that the purpose of the EOCs isn’t to simulate what you’ll see on the exam; they’re designed to help you learn the material, not to test you on whether you’ve learned the material. Many will be impractically long; they need to be so that they can help you learn to put everything together. On the exam, the questions will be shorter, and the answers correspondingly so.

Excellent point, thank you S2000magician. This should help keep panic at bay…

Man … if I can keep panic at bay (legitimately, not through subterfuge), then it appears that I’ve done some good today.
Cool!

One thing to note is that the free text questions in the EOCs aren’t necessarily structured like the constructed response questions we’ll see in the morning session of the exam. I would suggest doing them all, they’ll take ages, probably longer than you’d think, but definitely worth it.
cgottuso, twice already? I need to get cracking

Thank you for relaxing my nerves S2000, I was HOPING that these were designed more to throw a ton of information at you as opposed to being exam mimicks.
