When you submitted and checked back does it show days under “Decision Days Remaining” column?
Mine is empty, I have submitted last week

CFAI needs to approve your experience first, the number of months approved shows up in the next column over. Once CFAI approves your experience the status will change to “Under Review - Society”, at which point a 30 day clock starts for your local chapter to review and approve your application.

Also, CFAI gives themselves 10 days for approval, 30 days for local chapter. So don’t worry if you haven’t had experience approved yet, they are probably reviewing more than 12K applications now

Thanks for the answer. But does it show the days remaing? there is a column called “Decision Days Remaining”

the “Decision Days Remaining” is the 30 day countdown once the local chapter starts its review. It only shows the days remaining once CFAI approves your work experience

As a side note; many societies meet every 3-4 weeks so how many of those “30 decision days” you’ll need to wait before getting approval can vary.
I’ve seen people go past the 30 days as well sometimes, in which case an email to CFAI explaining that the 30 days has lapsed usually resolves the problem and they’ll approve it themselves.

Applied for membership on Aug. 6 and my status is still “Work Experience Review”. How long did it take to get your work experience approved by CFAI?

Today I received an email asking me to elaborate more on my experience… I guess if I have done better job explaining it in the first place, it would take me 4 business days to approve…

My 2nd reference was submitted last Friday, Aug 9 and CFA approved my work experience on Wednesday, Aug 14.

Mine was submitted on August 6 with 3 references, all CFA charterholders. I’m not sure what the hold up is. May need to follow up with CFAI.

How much did you write about your experience? I’m semi concerned about this as well. I think my description is fairly concise and should show that it qualifies but I did not write very much at all.

CFAI gives themselves 10 days to review work experience, so if you applied on the 6th then they have until the 20th to make a decision. I applied on the 6th and was approved on the 13th, though they are probably reviewing 12K+ applications, so I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t heard.
For work experience desciptions, CFAI says the following:
Describe what you do. Provide a detailed description of your daily responsibilities, including what types of clients you serve, what types of products you recommend to clients, and how your efforts add value to the investment decision-making process. Tell us about any independent analysis you perform.
See the links below for sample job descriptions, looks like they are looking for key words, and an application checklist.

Mine got approved fairly quickly, but I was already an affiliate member. Now… when can I use the designation ( I have paid the dues)?
