Anyone? The CFA Program doesn’t seem to like technical analysis very much.
1. How’s this program?
2. How’s the curriculum? Worth learning?
Don’t care if it gets me a job. Not asking that.
CFA>CMT? Just kidding, not asking that either.
 
How recently did you take L1?
I’ve heard that CFA has warmed up to technical analysis and has included a more supportive treatment of it in the L1 materials (and maybe the others as well).
Has anyone seen it or commented on it?
 
I took level 1 in 2008. The tech analysis i saw there was all insanely basic and focused entirely on textbook theory.
eg: explaining a moving averages, explaining contrarian indicators such as large amounts of cash on your balance sheet. It didn’t even begin to look at charts or the actual equity market.

Are you talking about L1 CMT or CFA?
 
My tech analysis professor at Baruch is a CMT. I can track him down for you if you’d like.

Just say a former student told you to look him up about the CMT.
 
Are you using the CMT just for personal gain or hoping to land a job because of it? If its the former, go for it. If its the latter, I would reconsider. I’ve yet to see a job post listing the CMT as a qualification filter.
 
I don’t work in equities, they are just a hobby, so I am definitely looking at it just for my own education. I’ve been watching a lot of CNBC lately and I realized that all they talk about are technical indicators and I really feel like a moron listening to them. Although, it does still seem like pseudo-science to me.
So my question is more towards whether anyone thought the curriculum is worth having a look at?

haha I had that guy for a few classes in NYC for L2 – weird guy, but knowledgeable
