Hello,

I have question pertaining to pre-requisites of enrolling into the CFA program. I have one solitary course left to finish before I graduate from University. I want to take the CFA level 1 in December 2007. I have come across this pre-requisite on investopedia.com:

Prerequisites of CFA: U.S. Bachelor's degree or equivalent, obtained no later than the 31st of December of the year in which the first exam will be written.

If I write the exam on 2nd Dec 2007, does the CFA institute REQUIRE my degree by the 31st december or before i register for level II (assuming I pass). I mean if i pass and dont want to take the next level till 2009 June, does the CFA still require me to graduate before 31st December 2007? Or only as long as i am done with my degree before i take the level II?

What if i am not throught with my course by december?

Please clarify!

Thanks

contact the CFAI, they are most qualified to answer this

yea, sent them an email just now. I think i'll call them in the morning. I just thought i'll ask the question here.

I registered before finishing (in late April, graudated in Oct, wrote in Dec) . they emailed me to say to conatct them when I had my graduation credentials. From what I understand, you can do LI and get your results without having this. But you can't register for LII until you have graduated...that was my impression, but I've heard many different things in this regard

CFA_Halifax,

Thats the impression I get as well. Meaning, I can take the L1 while I am a senior but before L2 registeration I need to graduate. I hope thats the scenario, it takes off a lot of pressure.

Perhaps I should email them to make sure everything is OK before I pay for everything early next week-

I want to sit for the L1 exam this December and will graduate in May of 08'. From everything I have read and the examples in this thread, this sounds perfectly acceptable.

What I am disappointed to hear is what CFA_Halifax notes- if I did pass L1, I would want to go for LII in June of 08 and I guess that is not possible if you have to graduate before registering.

Ok, So i called CFAI and they said, you can write L1 before graduation and get the results(as everyone knew) but before you register for LII you need to graduate.

I guess investopedia.com is wrong!
