Hi Guys,

I am enrolled in the Dec 06 Exam, I have the Schweser Study Notes,

I need to know or get a your opinion on how much time is recommended. I heard some say atleast 150 and some say 200 and some say 250?

I am currently in my undergrad which is Honours Eco, Finance & Accounting, I have 3 courses next term..(9 hours of class)

I have already finished the Schweser Corporate Finance Book, and Have done some of the FSA Economics I have looked over it and I know all the concepts so its just a matter of refreshing the knowledge and doing problems/questions I took 3 Stats Courses last year So I am pretty sure that wont be that bad. Ethics I plan to read the CFA Reading package once in October & once in November.

So I have allocated about 150-180 Hours just in the Month of Sept because classes dont start intill the 12th and nothing really happens intill the Last week of Sept. then I plan to do around 100 in Oct and about 100-150 in November.
that gives me about 350-400 hours of preparation

I plan to finish all the reading and problems & and then do problems & review the material

I plan to take the Mock Exam & Review session offered by Toronto-CFA Society on

Do you guys think this will be enough?

"I heard some say atleast 150 and some say 200 and some say 250? "

"that gives me about 350-400 hours of preparation "

What do you think?

I just want to be sure, because like everyone else ALOT is riding on this Exam...
but you have to understand atleast 50-75 hours is gonna me extra for me because i am not going to be comfortable with Debt and Derivatives because i havent taken 4th year finance courses and as for FSA i have dont just intro to financial and managerial Accouting... Analysis of Taxes and Financial Liablities & Off-Lease Balances... the last section is quite diffcult... and i am going to need time to memorize all the formulas...

but I see your point, I just want to be certain.

"and i am going to need time to memorize all the formulas... "

Understanding them will get you much further than memorizing then... If you memorize them, you'll forget them a few weeks after the exam (absurd drinking also tends to have the same effect...;)), whereas if you understand them, they'll stick with you longer... No point to earning the CFA designation but not remembering anything...

I think the reason so much time is required (~250 hours) is because that's what it takes to understand and learn the material (vs. memorizing it)..

With 350-400 hours, you should be okay... The larger problem will be sticking to the schedule you've created for yourself... You're young, an undergrad - I'm sure there are lots of distractions! :)
