Derivatives reading CFA text

A lot of the derivatives reading in the CFA level II text is “optional”. Is it just there for our review? I’m guessing we are required to know it all. It seems like it was all stuff from level I. Thanks for any feedback.

I would call the optional sections “assumed knowledge”.

Those who skipped CFA textbook and read schweser ONLY to pass Level-1, will most likely need the optional section. Atleast for FRAs.
