It is taking me twice the time in covering Derivatives than I had anticipated, and thus cutting down on my revision days…any ideas on which topics can be ‘ignored’ in derivatives…if any..
don’t stress too much…just make sure you now about puts/calls and other major topics. there’s only a few questions on the test anyways. focus on ethics, fsa, and econ…those three sections alone account for roughly 45% of the questions. I think derivatives is only 3% or 5%.
I’m just polishing the last few pages of derivatives right now. There is a couple concepts that are difficult but do a couple questions and that will clear it right up. I found corporate finance way harder then derivatives…..
I was discussing the same thing w/ my Stalla instructor last night… he agreed it’s a bear for only 3%, but can’t afford to punt it because it follows you to level II and III…
That is a good point, Level II & III are 5 - 15%……quite a increase. These concepts are fundamental but if you understand the basics of a call and a put, then its really just foundational work.
anyways, i did spent a lot of time on Derivatives…and now it has become a bit clearer…I will have 5 weeks of revision time..I guess it is ok time… now what is left for me is Income Tax, the only topic I cud not ‘master’…
I went to Level II forum by mistake…theres a derivative thread there…one of the guys was really having a nasty time with Swaps, even though he has worked in Swaps…so, what to talk about lesser mortals like me with no exposure whatsoever in derivatives…(
there is a probability table (Appendix 70A) on page 117, just after the Reading 70, followed by the Practical Problems for Reading 70 in the CFAI. ANy ideas whats it doing there? Have I missed something. I did reading 70 thoroughly but didnt find any need for Appendix 70A. comments?
