I reckon the L2 books is enough curriculum in itself. But did you keep the CFA, Schweser, etc L1 books just in case, anr perhaps used them to read up on something for the L2 as well?

I saved my CFA Institute books (at least for a while). The Level 1 and Level 2 books are pretty much a decent undergraduate curriculum in finance. You never know if you’ll need them for a quick reference (maybe you’ll tutor someone in it, maybe you can let a friend use/have them).

Nope, I literally threw them in the trash and it felt like I was exercising some demons. Great day.
You don’t need anything in there to pass L2. If the curriculum builds on anything from L1, what you need to know is already in the reading. In fact you might be pleasantly surprised there is some nice overlap on stuff you already know. But if not, it’s in there to learn again.

I just have the online books and I saved my notes from Level I but never looked at them or the books. Level II CFAI Curriculum has everything you need.

No. L1 books will be useless for L2. Everything you’ll need to know for the exam will be in the L2 books. The only book I kept was the Ethics Handbook (don’t remember the exact name).

I referred back to L1 to get the very basics of Swaps when I came across the topic in L2. That’s about it.

I’ll clarify my comment– I don’t think there is much utility in the Level I books (maybe some in QM) in preparing for Level II. I think there is utility outside of that, but it depends on your interests and extracurricular activities.

I kept my books for the same reason as tickersu wrote. And I heard from other CFA candidates you used the books after exam to read more about specific topics (then without time pressure).
But for the L2 exam there’s there’s no need to keep the booksin my opinion. All you need from L1 for L2 is part of the new books.
