This post might be useful to for those attempted the Level I exam in 2011 and are planning to retake in 2013. It might also be useful to those who currently have the 2011 books/videos and are still waiting for 2013 material.
Differences between the 2011 and 2013 CFA Level 1 curriculum:
· Ethics and Quantitative Method are essentially unchanged.
· Economics has changed completely.
· FRA: Minor changes. You can start studying from the 2011 material but make sure you eventually do questions from the 2013 curriculum.
· Corporate Finance: Reading on Financial Statement Analysis has been dropped. Rest is the same.
· Portfolio Management, and Equity are essentially unchanged.
· Fixed Income: One reading on credit analysis has been added.
· Derivatives: Unchanged.
· Alternative Investments: The first reading (which is the major one) has changed completely. The second reading on commodities is the same.
No matter what study material you use… it is always good to go through the CFA curriculum examples and questions.
